The 14th February might mean Valentine’s Day to the romantics amongst us but for those who like to get out in the garden it’s the time of year when thoughts turn to being back outside, preparing the garden for the year ahead and seed sowing.
As well as it’s fascinating and eclectic collection of antiques and vintage pieces, Dairy House Antiques and Interiors, on the Dorset / Wiltshire border, has developed a reputation for sourcing interesting, quirky and practical items for the garden.
Whether you’re the type of gardener who likes to get their hands dirty, or someone who prefers to simply enjoy the surroundings of your garden, there’s something for everyone at Dairy House. From terracotta seedling pots, vintage tools, interesting shaped trellis, plant supports and zinc planters to garden furniture, sculpture and other statement pieces, this is a great time of year to visit the Antiques Centre to see what you can find for your outdoor areas.
There’s always the potential to find a Valentine’s or Mothering Sunday gift with a difference too. Debs Jeffery, owner of Dairy House Antiques, loves plants and flowers and this is evident with her displays of planted bays, olive trees and succulents, all of which are available to buy.
As we head into the depths of winter and the temperature drops, the welcome at Dairy House Antiques and Interiors gets even warmer. Step inside this antiques centre and you will be greeted by the glow of the fire, as well as carefully arranged displays of the many and varied items for sale.
At this time of year it is easy to feel like you’ve stepped back into a Christmas of bygone days as you walk around the antiques centre. The subtle and simply beautiful hints of the festive season that you see around Dairy House are enough to lift the spirits, even on the shortest days of December.
Dairy House Antiques is a treasure trove for those hunting out special gifts as Christmas approaches. Vintage and antique jewellery, silverware, watches, brooches, ceramics, art, vintage toys, soft furnishings, and home wares fill the space here. If you need additional furniture to cope with an influx of Christmas guests then Dairy House Antiques can help with this too.
Debs Jeffery, owner of Dairy House Antiques, said "We love this time of year and our customers and dealers do to. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support during 2016 and wish them a very Happy Christmas and New Year."
No sooner has the warmth of the summer sun faded and the woodpile been stacked for the autumn and our thoughts start meandering ahead to the winter. Dairy House Antiques and Interiors, on the Dorset / Wiltshire border, is prepared and ready for the changing seasons.
Owner Debs Jeffery has curated an eclectic group of dealers who all sell from the antiques centre. Items for sale change frequently and, for those people looking to cosy up this autumn, you will find a range of beautiful eiderdowns, throws, rugs, curtains and cushions, which are perfect for the adorning your interior this Autumn. And for those of you reluctant to retreat indoors just yet you could stumble upon a fire pit, as well as other fascinating items for the garden.
Christmas is also looming on the horizon and, whilst it’s too early to be thinking about decorating the tree, it’s never too soon to start searching for unusual or special gifts for loved ones. There is something for everyone at Dairy House Antiques – jewellery, vintage toys, artwork, collectibles and all sorts of other treasure in-between. It’s a far more interesting shopping experience than browsing online and if you need to stop and ponder your shopping list whilst at Dairy House then there’s usually a warm stove to sit in front of whilst you gather your thoughts!
The long, light days of June and July seem like a distant memory as time marches on through August, but there’s still plenty of the summer left, with hopes of balmy evenings and entertaining in the garden.
At Dairy House Antiques you can find a wide selection of garden furniture and statuary, perfect if you find yourself wanting something to brighten up a corner outside the home as summer turns to autumn. And if you’re starting to feel the chill in the evenings then why not browse the selection of soft furnishings, cushions, rugs and blankets, which are always available.
Open from 10 - 5 Monday to Saturday, 11 - 4 Sundays and Bank Holidays and with plenty of free parking, Dairy House Antiques can be found at Station Road, Semley, SP7 9AN, www.dairyhouseantiques.com or on Facebook. You can also find Dairy House items in Fork and Flowers, Shaftesbury (Monday to Friday 9.30 – 5 and Saturday 9.30 – 3.30).
There is always something ‘new’, yet old, arriving at Dairy House Antiques. With over 30 traders based here our stock changes on a weekly, sometimes daily basis, and we never quite know what’s going to come through the door and be put out on sale next!
It’s always a delight when fabulous items of salvage appear and at this time of year we love it even more when it’s something that can be used in the garden! Imagine adding a little bit of history to your outdoor area, something a little bit different? How about stained glass to brighten up a shady corner, old lettering to spell out your family name on a fence, mirrors to lead the eye astray or reclaimed furniture in your summerhouse? Call in to see us and you might find something really special to add to your outdoor space this summer!
Add to this our wide range of zinc planters and watering cans, garden furniture, plant supports and outdoor sculptures and we’ve something for everyone’s garden here at Dairy House Antiques.
